ASMR Research

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a sensory phenomenon induced by particular sounds such as whispering and is characterized by pleasant tingles along the spine and neck. As a neuroscience major, I am fascinated by ASMR and I wonder how seemingly ordinary sounds such as pages turning or even gum chewing bring about these pleasurable feelings and sensations. In an effort to find out more, I wrote a short review paper about music-induced chills, which I hypothesize are related to ASMR tingles. Dr. Richard from the fantastic ASMR information hub, ASMR University interviewed me about the topic.
